hi guys,

A friend of mines had his eg9 stolen. It was recovered minus the ecu and harness. The car was re-wired and he got a p30-000 ecu to work with the car. The problem is the car is very lazy b4 vtec, then pulls strong after engagement.

A little info about the car. IT was an auto b4 that was converted to manual and working good with a chipped p30(which was stolen).
He has an auto p08 ecu in the car at the moment which suprisingly is pulling good but redline is 7500. He cannot chip the p08 b'cause it dosen't have e-prom chip in it(very hard to locate down here)

Someone told him that the knock sensor is retarding the car, that is why it is pulling lazy.

Do you think chipping the p30 he has now will solve the problem?

which engine is in the car?

if it's anything but a D15B, then P08 is running it lean. Which will feel weak.

B16a
the p08 is actually pullin stronger than the p30 b4 vtec engages.
The pull from 0 to 6000(vtec engagement) is veeeeeery slow with the p30 while with the p08 that initial pull is much stronger.

a D15B ECU on a B16 is only a matter of time before you have engine damage.
Especially if you're running WOT or in VTEC.

the chip in the old P30 may have been hurting him. The stock P30 will run better.
that is if the car is setup correctly. (check that the ignition is set at 16*)

if you need to trade that P08 for a converted and ready-to-use ECU I would be down; my last P08 got water damage and I had to salvage the components off the board and toss it. I am a D15B fanatic.

F.Y.I the ECu is a fully converted P06, good soldering, Jumpered J12 and J1, not cut/soldered... socketed 373, OBDI IAB circuit, VTEC, datalogging port..... everything but EGR and knock (pointless honestly, unless you need the EGR for a PWM circuit...)

I am willing to do a straight trade just so I have an old P08 to a baseline off of (for dyno day when the new motor comes in).

your car is a manual right?
