Im looking for a cheap simple little wideband gauge that I can just stick in the ash tray when not tuning. NOTHING FANCY..
Any one know where I could find one?

Do a search for Toalan's JAW "Just Another Wideband".

it is possibly THE cheapest wideband.. Whether it is perfect, funtional or otherwise, I don't know as I haven't followed it.

Most everything commercially available out there cost at least $200, with $50-60 cost being the sensor itself.

There is a simple bar-graph IC that used to be available at RadioShack..

designs are all over the web for use as a narrowband display.

It can easily be adapted to read any voltage range by reading the datasheets and adjusting the resistance values. Read the spec sheet for that IC for info on how to calculate the resistance values.

This is what you are looking for.

Moates O-meter?

It's not dirt cheap but it's not expensive either. Pretty small as well, despite being larger than just a line of LEDs.

not far from now i plan to build a triple seven segment display based on a pic microcontroller to display the afr, my plan is to have it configurable to take input from either the lc-1's serial stream or the 0-5v analog output.

parts in total would probably amount to less than £10

Iv seen them in cars b4 but cant find one...

I was looking through some of my RC heli stuff and saw a battery led meter..
I dont remember where the manual to it went (it has 2 switches on it to set voltage ranges for the 3 colors on the bar). Ill play around with it and post up some pics. If anyone does find one im still interested tho..

This should fit in there..

I can't read the p/n on the battery meter pics... but that looks bang-on to what I was referencing to..

That IC is readily available, possibly even locally to you.

figure out the resistors and bam, you're in business.

I did search around and found one that can be made for under 20 bucks, but hey this one is pre built and I think it cost me like 5 bucks (cant find the exact one)

this is the closest thing I could find to it online.
