Hi guys,

Just getting started here, btw great site, so much information!!!
I have a 1990 CRX Si and I'm just putting together a plan for the summer.

First off my design goal here is to have a great daily driver. Just wondering if I'm on the right track here or am I way off? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...

The plan for this summer:

rebuild B16a (just freshen up headgasket and up)
finish rust repair and paint ( canadian winters suck !!! :( )
re-install all of the interior (it's completely stripped out)
install engine...etc
get everything set up for boost
install turbo (T25 intercooled at 6psi) and run it on RRR with missing link temporary... ( I know it sucks but let me finish...)
This is the set up I was planning as far as management goes:

Get Moates O meter with LC1 and O2 sensor
http://www.moates.net/shopping_cart.php
Chip my PW0 ecu ( I would like to stay OBD 0 cause I want to use BRE)
Get USB datalogger (http://www.xenocron.com)
Now I figured I could run my original PW0 map in the chipped ECU with the missing link and RRR. I could use BRE and datalog via USB / monitor with LC1 just to check on the RRR. If it really doesn't work...

Part II:
set of Precision 440cc injectors
Moates emulator (keep it in the car for now... eventually burn a chip)
make basemap... tune,tune,tune

From what I read I could use this set up but I guess my quesiton is would it still be current? I mean if BRE is old news and OBD 0 is on the way out then I'll just have to do the OBD0->OBD1 swap and go with P28 running chrome/uberdata...

The only reason I would try to use the RRR and the missing link is because I can't really afford the PART II shopping list and I've heard you can boost pretty safely with (t25 at 6psi), also from what I read about ntc490 at viewtopic.php?t=12477 . I'm only using the T25 because I got it from a guy who owed me some money and I want a street set up that's really tame for now. (I'll probably sell it but either way I'll be going for boost)

cheers,
Gabe

I'm running a stock block B16 turbo. Rethink you turbo size, I'm using a T3 T4 57 trim at 10 lbs of boost. The T25 is too small for a B series. 440's are good till 8 lbs of boost. I am also running BRE and I chipped my PW0. Don't waste money on other half step setups, just chip it, change injectors and go from there. Currently I'm still tuning with the NB O2 sensors and have not bought a wideband but thats my next purchase. I am also running 440's but will be changing to 880's I just got them in. I'll send you my 440 bin when you are ready that should be a great base map for you to start with.

I know the T25 is too small, just having it sitting around is tempting. I'll try to sell it before I have the engine in the car. I could definetely use the 440 bin's and I'm actually looking for a bigger turbo more appropriate for the b16... btw how do you like BRE, would you go OBD1?

thanks for the comments so far guys,
Gabe

Hey guys,

Almost done rebuilding the B, Have most of the rust taken care of on the car, Should have the engine in the car next weekend to check for clearances and then I'll paint it before the end of August!!! Finally after 3 1/2 yrs of waiting I can see the end of this project! Just working on my harness right now, splicing my d series with the one that came with the B to incorporate spool valve signal/ground and dual O2's.

So I'm making an order thru Moates tonight for the following:

Innovate Bung and Plug $8.00
S2G Custom-cut Aries ZIF $12.00
Ostrich 2.0 : The New Breed $175.00
HULOG Honda USB Datalog Interface $35.00
FREE Moates.Net T-Shirt and Sticker with $300 purchase
Size Medium
O-Meter - All New!! (combo offers!)
Display Color Blue
Wideband Combo with O-Meter LC-1 /w/ Sensor (normally $199) $248

I've ditched the idea of running a RRR( :? ) and I'm planning on chipping my PW0(just need the zif socket for this right since it's PW0) and running the Ostrich permanently. Now from what I understand I'll need the HULOG to be able to datalog and I'll need the WBO2 to tune.
I still need the 440cc injectors which I thought of picking up on ebay (used talon tsi?) or maybe pick up a set of precision 440cc from xenocron at 219.00$. I'm thinking I should just go with new ones to be safe.

Then it's just a matter of picking an editor, I'm leaning towards BRE.

I guess I haven't got a question really, I was just searching the forum and I decided on this shopping list, just hoping someone might spot something I'm missing and say: " Hey you're forgetting to get a.... " or maybe I'd be better off with different equipment, any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks all,
gabe

I do have a question... (I'll add some pics as soon as I find my digi cam)

I have a PW0-000 ecu (OBD0/ 1989 with a daughter board). I've located the EPROM but I can't find the CN2 spot for my header, there's a CN3 spot numbered 1 to 5 but I can't find any pictures of anyone else using this spot? I'll keep searching but it's difficult finding info on this old stuff. I don't think anyone's using this anymore! I should have gone OBD0->OBD1 but I wanted to work with what I have since It's all on a student budjet!

(I also have a '91' PR4 auto ecu and a '90' PM6 ecu... but I want to use the PW0 if possible.)

thanks for any help
cheers..
gabe

I'm not sure what you mean by "No Support"

If anyone has any questions, they can always go on the Tech Center of my site or email me directly.
