The issue with Hondata was settled amicably and all other details are confidential. Big thanks to Hondata for communicating and making this possible. Big thanks to my attorney, Bennet Kelley, for his assistance. If you ever need an IP attorney in California, I can't speak highly enough of him. Intelligent, shrewd, funny, but still able to be cold and calculating when he needs to, as all truly excellent lawyers need to be.

I plan on becoming much more involved in what is going on here again (I was avoiding the site because of frustration/exasperation/etc.). I'm also actively working on restoring/upgrading the wiki. I've been doing a *lot* of development work lately, and I plan on sharing at least some of it.

I was OVERWHELMED by the generosity of site members. Around $8,500 was received total to contribute towards my legal expenses. I haven't received a final bill from my attorney, but I'm guessing will be at least two to three thousand yet to pay. The pgmfi paypal account (pgmfi@pgmfi.org) has $8.14 in it. Spare change anyone? :)

Thankyou again one and all for your support through difficult times.
-Dave

I'm happy for you that this is finally over and pgmfi has survived. The support you have gotten is great. What exactly is ment by "limited moderator privelages"?

Congrads! Glad it's all over and that the damages were not horribly huge. Also glad you didn't loose your love for this place after all this.

Hondata can move posts that they feel infringe on their intellectual property or software that violates their user agreement to a private "Quarrantine" area where further discussion can happen. In the event no resolution can be had between Hondata and the moderators, a professional impartial dispute resolution service will be involved and both parties have agreed to follow any decision reached. Hondata have not been given the ability to edit or delete posts (full moderator status) everywhere on the forum.

This place was never meant to be about stealing other people's work. I think that the agreement reached helps Hondata protect their interests without imposing unduly on the autonomy of the site.

I'm really so excited that Hondata were able to agree to something that is as fair and reasonable as it is. At least I think so. :)

YAY!

I guess this explains the reasons for being under the radar from pgmfi when it comes to the k development.

Hats off to you and the rest of the crew. I am expecting some paypal cash in shortly; I will divert it your way!

Good to hear that you guys got it worked out. And that does sound like a fair agreement and I hope all goes well now.

To future development. :D

Sounds like a fair settlement. At least the moderators will be able to see what they consider to be infringing upon their rights. It just makes me feel like big brother is looking over my shoulder.
