Before I go wasting more money, I wanted to check and see if anyone had any advice on where to find a normally closed oil pressure switch that engages at 15 +/- psi? Went to NAPA and looked through their books and found one that said 12-17 psi, when I tested it the thing switched at 4.5 psi. That's better than the stock 2 psi switch, but at that pressure all it will do is alert me when my engine needs to be rebuilt.

I am wondering the same thing Grease.

I went to BFCP and they can get a Volvo switch that is supposed to work in the 12~15 psi range. I don't know the part number off hand but it is a Borg Warner unit. It is also 1/8" NPT and not the darned BSPT.

How did you test the switch? An air pressure regulator and adaptive fittings?

And yes it does exist!

I've been testing with a simple regulator. I don't think many people are interested in the extra insurance, but for anyone who is, this is a Cole Hersee NO and NC switch part # 8659. This is a neat little switch where one terminal is normally closed to ground and opens at 10.5 psi while the other two terminals are normally open and close at 14 psi. I suppose 14 will be good enough and will require the use of a NC relay to have the piezo alarm, but no sweat there; if anyone stumbles across another switch possibly a few lbs higher, please post the part #

I will have to look that switch up or a cross-reference for that. I want to see if I can get that or a similar switch locally. That will surely be a good safetly indicator if things go south quickly. The peizo deal with surely be the icing on the cake!

Good info Grease! Thanks.
