Hello .I have a 1999 Honda CR-V Uk spec it has achieved 147,000 miles and is still going strong
I have played where's my OBD,eventually to discover it has the old 3 pin and 2 pin diagnostics
I (stupidly/ hopefully) purchased a 3 pin to OBD2 connector and an elm 327 wifi( it's ok you can stop laughing now) well I was surprised that my iPad/iPhone/PC tablet were all able to connect to the Elm
And the OBD facile requested data from my ECU ,but alas it was not forthcoming ,I am now going off to read on the subject of protocols and do I understand correctly that the 2 pin is the data and the 3 pin is for communication with the ECU? Any pointers/ helpful threads as Intend going the Vtec route on my b20z1 when the time comes as this would mean swapping the ECU for the Vtec as it includes the Vtec switch??????

I have had a look at the wiki page and decided that this forum will be extremely helpful once I have discovered what is actually in my car as I have no stickers or identifying numbers on my ECU ,according to Honda it should be PHK-G51 which does not indicate which Odb it uses ,so it's back to A Honda dealer to plug it in and maybe they can help to find a solution.
Will be back once I get hooked up to the ECU and get it talking.

Back again newbie report no1 .
I have an OBD2A ECU probably a P 75 and the old girl runs fine on it ,it has an aftermarket immobiliser and as stated all is ok I recently purchased a device for reading my old ECU and that works fine too no codes but the distributor is worn ( at 148,000 miles) has anybody seen or heard of the coil on plug system that did not cost an arm and a leg there are 2 or 3 on YouTube that appear to have been done and dusted years ago but the only system available is the AEM or Hondata which requires me to sell both children to afford it but I love the kids more than Henry( family Crv) so could any kind soul advise me on this matter ,I have built engines and headstones do not mind learning or getting hands on experience ,thanks in advance an old time tuner (carbs and cams)

If anyone else is interested I did find some threads on this but it dies a death like a lot of posts
Go to search and type "wasted spark" quite appropriate really!

If anybody could add to this list it would be very helpful.
