is the 2.5.2 installer still needed to install the latest version of te??

i have just purchased a laptop with vista and am in the process of tuning a d14a1,

thanks for any help

yes...for now...

install 2.5.2, then use the TE 3.1 Updater.vbs file to setup the newer stuff. i only included the files that i added since 2.5.2...so the old installer sets up other support files.

did you install 2.5.2 first? if so try that version and see if you can open a rom... that doesnt sound like the issue, i just want to verify if 2.5.2 works for you or not.

I installed 2.5.2 then updated it to new version and then ecucontrol files. I tried file-open file-new file-exit. No one is working. right now.

I installed turbo2 to program files, it opens bin now but thats old version with missing stuff, right?

OK. Datalogging works fine but afr shows 0.0 i have now innovate simulating to narrow band. I try next with innovate coded to output wideband voltage. Im trying to use romulator with imb serial to usb converter but it gives me this message:
http://jolpa.1g.fi/kuvat/civic/kuvia/tuning/Turboedit/TEromulatorVista.jpg

Im using now turboedit plugin ecucontrol and map readings is correct now. I used chip to run the car and ecucontrol shows ign advance is 27 at idle, how does it count it? Can i trust it? I thought it reads only turboedit map to show ign advance but map has only 18 deg:s or something and it wasnt even connected (chip in ecu)

Maybe next time i go with older laptop with serial and xp so it should be easier, allso trying to get that innovate give right voltage so i can try autotune. I see autotune map is only for stock map sensor and it has columns only 12psi? I know autotune should be not use to boost and high rpm but just wanna know sure it doesnt affect at vacuum map because of those stock map columns.

Oh and i tryed to run romulator with several different port and baud settings, mostly it doesnt even found but this baud it gives that error.

the ignition advance is not 100% correct...its just reading off teh map in TE. once i get ng62 out, i will work on ng63 and try to add some more logging points, like real fuel value and real timing values.

there should be no issue with serial to usb...thats what i use. the autotune map should be the exact same size as your map in TE. if your using innovate, you can do the following:
connect the brown wideband output wire to your disconnected nbo2 input...then select the innovate sensor in ecucontrol and copy in your settings from lmprogrammer (volts vs afr). or you can just connect your innovate serial connector (using serial to usb converter if needed) and set the o2 setting to narrowband with innovate channel, then connect to the innovate port and log digitally into ecucontrol.

im not sure why some people have trouble getting this to work...it seems like i need to slow the timer down on the connection trys. apparently some ostriches take upwards of 30-40 seconds to connect and TE will time out well before that.

ive never seen that error before... are you using an ostrich? if so is it a v1 or v2? if v2 try setting to the highest baud rate. do any other versions of TE allow you to connect? try bre and see if you connect and note how long it takes...

edit...from your screenshot the programmer is set to 1 which is the ROMulator. i dont know anyone who has one...if that is what your using, send me as much documentation on it that you can find. otherwise i cant offer any real support.

Yes its romulator. I have tryed every baud setting available and changed baud rate from manager too. Sometimes it doesnt give that error, then it doesnt find romulator. I have tryed 2 different serial to usb adapter. I tryed BRE with vista and when i put connect to romulator it freezes.

the only baud rate listed in the older TE was 115200... does an older version of TE like 2.5.2 work for you?

Code:

Select Case GetSetting(App.Title, "Settings", "RTPProgrammer", 1)
            Case 1 'ROMulator
                RTPComm.Settings = "115200,n,8,1" 'ROMulator Settings
            Case 2 'Ostrich
                RTPComm.Settings = "115200,n,8,1" 'Ostrich Settings
End Select

This is what I had to do.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>

Right mouse click on Command Prompt and hit run as administrator.

From there register each .ocx file in your TurboEDIT PRO directory.

After you have successfully registered each .ocx it should give you a message telling you that you have succeeded.

This is how my command line read after typing in each file:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\msinet.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\mscomm32.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\MDITaskBarControl.o
cx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\MSCOMCTL.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\comdlg32.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\tabctl32.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\dirdlg.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\mschrt20.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\TurboEDIT PRO\msflxgrd.ocx"

C:\Windows\system32>

I know by reading this thread you can pretty much figure out what you need to do, but I'm hoping this will help some less computer savvy Vista users.

I am running windows 7 Home premium, and TE PRO worked fine from me out of the gate. I was able to edit the rom setting and modify the fuel and timing tables with no issues. Oh yeah, I am running TE Pro with XP sp3 compatibility...but it runs fine without turning on compatibility mode.

However the ecuControl plugin would not work. I would install it inside TE ( Plugins->Plugins Manager->install) and TE would say everything was successful. However, when I pressed the button to start it, or tried to run it via the plugins menu, absolutely nothing would happen. No window, no errors, no sounds...nothing! I was like it ignored my button press or something.

I tried to register all the DLL and OCX files like the above post mentioned, but it didnt help. All the dll and ocx files were registerd successfully, excpet for mts.dll. Winodws complained that the file loaded but "the DLLRegisterServer was not found"

Without the ability to datalog, I'm kinda stuck...

Oh yeah, the logworks plugin doesn't work either, however the rom calculator plugin DOES work....hmmmm....

EDIT:
after following the advice from this thread, it all works now!

How do you make Windows Vista ask you for administrator permission to access a certain program? I have Microsoft Outlook installed and I only want me to be able to access it. So how can I make the User Account Control (UAC) come up to ask me for administrator permission when I want to open Microsoft Outlook 2003? I have Windows Vista Ultimate.
