Ok i was told at dsmtuners that at one point you all were discussing using atmel 27c512 flash chips and loading multiple maps onto them, which could then be toggled by adding/removing ground from certain pins.

My goal here is to have a awd 1st gen talon turbo that makes a 14 second pass on street tires and get great MPG on the street. I was told that i could use a two stage BC for low boost while normal driving and high for when i want to race (i would go electronic boost controller of course for ease for the push button effect between the boost stages so for race push button- for norm push button).

I was told that messing with that you were disocussing messiong with the fuel maps on the chip - what came out of that- what do i need to know- links please. and one last thing will this idea work with a zif socketed ecu?

Thanx all for what help you can give. i have been looking at diferent turbo setups and was going honda but i switched to dsm for the ease of it (already has the turbo setup and with a tune up it can easily make that 14 second pass)

i hav been searching and i have found plenty on the fact that this chip can take two programms- but what i want to know now i guess is what fuel maps shoudl i use? I mean the the program for good MPG and the other program for racing??

BTW This is the only good link i have found in relation to MPG on this site that i have found for what i have been trying to do....- so if this makes it more clear what i trying to do that be my guest and read.

viewtopic.php?t=1338&highlight=mpg

as i said before i would like to know what programs or bins i should use in doing this same proccess- and if there is a better explanation on the wiki or somewhere else about this please do let me know.

Thanx guys koodos on the great site- although i wish i could be answered here as fast as i am on dsmtuners.com those guys are on top of posts fredily like a bat out of hell- if that makes any sence to you at all....

The Moates 2Timer. Accepts a SST27SF512 chip. Ground the attached wire for one half of the chip, unground for the other. Just set up a switch to change ON THE FLY

Fits in any 28 pin machine socket. Comes with an extra DIP28 and one SST27SF512 chip.

PM me if you need one :)

1. Thank you very much for answering me - it seems this topic is not well talked of. I know very little abotu car computers so prepare your self for the ignorace that i am about to portray on thus part. if there is anyway that you could spare me the time by giveing me as close directions in the process going about doing this that would be more than helpful. I don't understand much of the lingo used on the site either- when i read past posts it is like greek. I have made the observation (here as well) that those that know alot about computers or in cars tend to talk to eachother as if everyone in the room knows what they are talking about - i would be the one going HUH? so again this is greatly appreciated and i apologize fore the delay in my reply. thanxs again - you rock my face off like totaly hardcore dude! (alittle but of misfortune for the english world)

2. what is the extra DIP28 and what is its purpouse?

3. what is the The Moates 2Timer and what is its purpouse as well?

4. what is the significance of the fact that Fits in any 28 pin machine socket?

5. how would i set up a switch to chang on the fly?

6. what bin or programed fuel map that is already available (if there is one) should i use for the good mpg. And the same question for the race (street race- so all around cornering and drag racing) fuel map?

7. what eprom do i use? is the moates 2timer a eprom or flash?

8. where the heck does all this go on a 1st gen dsm turbo awd anyhow?

9. what program should i use with the eprom? (i do not remmeber if i am obd1 or 0 i have the six bolt motor though

10. any recomended cheap laptops for basically just this?

Its a circuit board that allows you to run either the upper or lower half of a 512 chip

4. what is the significance of the fact that Fits in any 28 pin machine socket?
Hondas have 28 pin sockets

5. how would i set up a switch to chang on the fly?
There is a wire that comes off it. You hook one side to a switch pole and then on the other pole, you connect that to ground. When you switch back and forth from grounded to not grounded...you are switching back and forth between the upper and lower halves of the 512 chip

7. what eprom do i use? is the moates 2timer a eprom or flash?
The 2Timer is a circuit board...you stick an eprom chip in it

Does your car have an eprom ecu? Do you know what one is? Do you really think a 14 sec dsm is fast ( Mine was well into the 13's with $500 of mods)

Start reading here http://www.tsitek.net/links.php look at the links in the ecu section for some DSM specific help

DSM's use a 512 chip stock.
Are you sure two programs will fit on one chip?
