Yes, version 1.0.10. There is no response from it either.

I know on XP, this has happened when the eChartControl.ocx file is missing or not registered...but being on win7 it could be something else also.

Try logworks 3 if you don't have it installed already: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/support.php

*EDIT: as others have stated, try moving the resource files to the program folder. I believe the installer puts them into the system folder.

Also, look thru The Acid Beavers writeup: https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1IQUt-bTDy5aX614zUoiFKjSrZ1XNAnTfS47GoirNSgY&pli=1

Updated software is coming soon...

After installing logworks 3, ECUcontrol started working. :D

I had moved the resource files during a previous attempt, so this may have been part of the problem also.

Moving forward again, when I did the dyno tuning I didn't have ecucontrol working... however, I will be going to the dyno again to give it a whirl. Something that may be of interest to this community is this:

http://support.moates.net/2009/02/05/unsupported-honda-configurations/

" 1988-1989 Civic Si (PM6) and 1988-1991 CRX HF ECU (PM8) require a daughterboard we do not sell in order to be chipped. Use a 90-91 ECU on these model years. "

This may be described in a previous thread somewhere but I've just been doing some research and muddling around the internets... I then email Moates about this asking how do we identify the two...

his response was:
"90-91 ECUs have an Oki 38256 EPROM present from the factory. 88-89 ECUs do not. If you have a 28 pin EPROM, you're good to go. If not, none of the hardware we sell will work."

Good answer but still doesn't answer my original question. After looking at tons of ecu's, apparently there is a blue stamp to the left of the ecu identification sticker that denotes the year... as far as I have found out:
88 - no go
89 - maybe (depends when in the year it was made)
90/91 - of course

Looking even further I notice that the older ecu's don't have chipset IC19 (and if they do, omg where the hell is it)..

hope the helps some.. b/c it's taken awhile to find this stuff.

cheers,
-xavier

That's, like, old news by over a decade. There are several people who make boards to enable chipping of the non-external ROM ECUs.

Does anybody have an idea when the change-over date is for the external EEPROM? I have a Aug. 1, 1989 with the external EEPROM.

Right, but there was a date, sometime in 1989, when the plant switched over from making/shipping non-external EEPROMS to external EEPROM ECU's.

Right. It changed with the model year, which is how the ECUs are generally bought and sold. So the date itself really doesn't mean much, and that is also why I ask for pics of the board before I buy an ECU or have someone send me one for chipping.

I understand that, but, I don't see the point about searching after an exact date when it's mostly useless info. *shrugs*

If you had a date, or at least range when the changeover occurred, you would be able to tell if this ECU (see below link) has an external EEPROM in it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-91-HONDA-CIV ... 0d&vxp=mtr

With all of the swaps and modifications these cars get, relying on someone saying "it came out of a 90", with a 20+ year old car, is rather risky. And getting them to open the case, and send you a photo is asking a bit much. In most cases I will be able to get them to read the date code for me.

I don't buy ECUs on ebay. I get all of the ones I buy from forums and requesting a photo of the board is not unreasonable at all.

It's cool.. I understand that it's old news.. However, my driving factor is that the older ecu version is not compatible with the Hulogger according to the Moates website.

Just pressing forward and trying to put everything I'm learning on one thread with as much pertinent information as possible.
