Get a powered USB hub (without the power supply) and get a 7805 5V regulator from Radio Shack and make the 5V supply input for the hub...+12V in from the switched 12V in the car (and ground) and the 5V voltage regulator output will drive all of the devices connected to the hub. I ran a single 10 foot USB extension cable to make sure that I didn't have any problems (and also so I could be outside of the car when I get to the dyno) and I have never had an issue. The 7805 will supply 5V @ >1.2A...a three port hub needs 500mA max per port...works out perfectly.

It is a handful of parts and it is really easy to build!

now that i`m thinking about it I could use these cheap lighter 5v usb thingies tear it apart and use that as a voltage regulator
