Hi there,

just started experimenting with TE and various maps for my D16 DOHC ZC, i read all the guides etc but still have a couple of questions...

If i use the BaseMapper.xls, the maps that come up (D16 DOHC, 240cc, NG60 code - 1.8 bar) are a bit different than the stock PM7 ones...Also, for an N/A setup we need the "Lo Boost" multipliers too? By setting "Auto detect multipliers", these values turned to zero, only the "Lo Vac" remained.

Secondly, can i somehow change the row headings (rpm) from 5500-6600-7800 to whatever i like, in order to have a more precise tune? And a last one, i noticed i can't assing the CEL to act as i shift light (all the options are "whitened out"), like you could in previous versions of TE...Is there any way to do this?

I c/p the stock PM7 maps to a NG62 rom and this is the result:

Can please someone check and tell me these are the right values/tables? If i start with a good basemap then everything will be much easier, i'll be using a dynometer and a O2 sensor for the tune, so i will be seeing AFRs etc, just want a safe map to start with.

Many thanks in advance :)

James

Firstly, what version of TE are you using? 3.2.2 was just released. NG63 is also the currently latest and most stable version of the bins.

For NA you use the NA portion of the map and ignore the rest of it. Leave the fuel multipliers alone. You don't have to worry about them at all.

Of course you are going to get different maps from the basemapper spreadsheet. I would highly recommend starting with the EDM PM7 maps and making your own map based on them, as the timing and fuel maps are much better for most setups, IMO.

Currently using TE 3.2.2...I should prefer the NG63 then? I chose the NG62 as the latest "stable" release...

Next week i'm getting my hands on a programmer and some unburned chips, we'll go to the dyno and i'll post the results...Hope i can make 3-5 hp with the tune, current setup is i/h/e dynoe'd around 140 hp...

Thanks a lot Beaver :)

NG63 gives you a lot more room for making the tune livable for daily use, as you have quite a lot more available options for tuning the fuel and ignition with temperature based multipliers. The tune itself won't be (much) different between 62 and 63 based bins, though. I get a bit better idle with 63 based bins, but, that is reeeally subjective.

I would most definitely use the EDM PM7 maps, though, as a base for your tune.

What do you have done to the engine? That's a healthy number to have dynoed at and a really fun goal to have.

I have posted the dyno over at D-series too, if you remember...short ram CAI, 4-2-1 headers 2,25", 200 cpsi cat and 2,25" exhuast all the way back, made 135 hp without the headers, from what i see on the road, must be close to 140 now...If i can tune it and reach 145 hp i'll be pretty happy, with torque close to 116 ft-lb, i think it's manageable...:)

Will update as soon as i start tuning

(Don't mind the whp number, usually very off in Maha dynos)

Cool. That is a nice power curve. I wish you the best in your tuning!

Update: It seems i'll be using the stock PP5 ECU to tune after all, most of the PM7s i found were older, romless models (88-89) and/or from non-catalytic engines, e.g. D16A9. So i'm moving on with a spare PP5 i found. It's coded PP5-G01 so, according to the library, it's chippable. But will the PM6 code work flawlessly on my PP5? Without CELs coming up, that is...

There's only one way to find out for sure. But I suspect that it will be fine.

the pp4/pp5 are basically the same as pm6/pm7

some pp5's are romless

Hey there,

I just want to ask, because iam wired too about the Fuel Multiplier....
In the Basic NG63 Bin, the Fuel Multiplier is @ Low Vac: 000112222223333 and @ Low Boost: 333333444444444
and at the Original PM7 EDM Map (i just read them out) are the Fuel Multiplier @ Low Vac: 011222333333444

so, i just want to know, what i have to do, if i import the original PM7 EDM Map in the NG63 Map? Will i need to change the NG63 fuel multiplier, or can i just leave at it is???

Thx

PS: iam german and my englisch isnt good :D

Hi,

i was worried too, but all the guys here told me that the fuel multipliers don't mean much, if you tune your mixture well (with a wideband O2 sensor). So, leave them as they are.

thats it! i dont want to tune with an o2 sensor! i just want to add things like launch control etc. and nothing more....
so what should i do?

and my other problem is the datalogging with TE with ECU control plugin.....i`ve done everything correctly, but i dont get real data....i just get something like i drive 110km/h and stuff, but i dont drive :( what did i wrong?

thx
