I can pull it, then it tells me its an invalid bin or not compatible with TE and if I want to save anyway. Then I can't open it in TE. I just did some tuning and didn't save, it would be nice to get it off my ostrich. An autosave feature would be sick.

i've used it about 50 times and never had a problem, even putting weird values in and verifying its the same when pulling off the ostrich. try just leaving the car off and plugging in your ostrich usb and pulling the rom. or key on engine off and try pulling it.

if it still doesnt work, post up the file that it pulls and saves so i can look at it. TE should ask if you want to save before you close the app...

well your first bin seems to have gotten most portions of the rom.

if your using 3.1.10, try upping the read interval from 4ms to something higher. i've noticed that some ostriches may be a little "slower" than others...or i may be losing my mind  maybe try 8ms then 16ms and if it still doesnt work, post the saved roms up again so i can see what its doing.

if i could replicate the problem on my end, it would be much easier to fix. reading from the ostrich was about the only thing that has ever worked on the first try.

Here's some more bins at different read intervals. and 1 at a higher locate interval. I even try using a different baud rate and it would finish pulling the rom, after waiting for maybe 30 seconds. This is probably way more bins then you need.

im sorry to say, but im stumped... its getting bits and pieces of the rom...they only thing i can find from the protocol is maybe the checksum is incorrect.

if i were you i would try using crome free to get the rom...i've never tried it, but it might work. or else tunerpro has a utility to get roms off the ostrich, but again ive never tried it.

i will try to figure this out...

I'll try messing around with it and other programs and see if I can't get it to work. Did your pull the bins with ostrich 1 or 2?? If that even makes a difference. it wouldn't matter if the ribbon cable is still connected?

i have an ostrich2 and its worked for me 99% of the time. i had a few instances where i got some garbage back...but another try worked again.

i've never tried it without the ribbon cable hooked up...so im not sure if it would work or not.

i can open obd0 roms in crome and save them and open in TE...since its still just a "rom editor" i would assume that you can use crome to upload the array of values and save them as a bin. let us know if you try it...

I attempted to pull the bin from ostrich with crome with no sucess. crome detected my ostrich and which com port it was on etc. but when I tried to read it, it did not work??? I'm not super literate with crome, so it's possible I did it wrong........

Still no success with TE get rom's from my ostrich. When your able to get it to work how exactly do you do it? hardware, etc.

are you able to upload your bin okay...just not able to get it back off the ostrich? do you have an older laptop? i know there are sometimes connection issues with older/slower laptops. try going into options, the RTP tab and setting the RTP read interval to something like 1000 ms. it will send the packets of data really slowly, hopefully sllowing enough time for your ostrich to reply with that section of the rom.

Yes, I can upload just fine, but not get it back from ostrich. I do actually have an older P2 laptop (400mhz). I'll try that.

I'm still able to datalog and use RTP despite how old it is ( with XP ).

I'm looking at these options and the read interval is set to 4 originally and the locate speed is set to 600. your saying try 1000 on the read speed instead of 4?

Another question, are you using v1 or v2 of ostrich? if your using the earlier version has anyone got v2 to work???

yes...change the read interval (originally 4ms) to 1000ms and see what happens. it will in essence "read" from the ostrich much slower, hopefully giving it enough time to respond.

i use an ostrich 2 and it has worked for me every time.... :?
