i am troubleshooting some solid cell ecus (some w/ J1, some w/o J1)

here's some info i got. i think it's useful in identifying bad solder of sockets for IC3 and IC4 (IC3 = 27256 and IC4 = 74hc373)

consists of continuitys with ohms of resistance and noted observations.


hardware info from:

37820-po6-a51

testing tool: craftsman mod#82139 digital multimeter

1720-1500 UNCHIPPED AUTO
-OKI = OKI66207 MCU

top side edu
--27256 top half, left to right = 1-14, ECU plugs to left
test lead sequence: red - black
1-2 = 11.9m
1 cont w/ c52 and 27256 bottom half 2
2 cont w/ OKI 15
2-3 = ol
3 cont w/ OKI 14
3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7 = ol
7 cont w/ R52 2 and OKI 23
7-8, 8-9, 9-10 = ol ** 9-10 = 11.3k
9 cont w/ R54 1
10-11, 11-12, 12-13, 13-14 = 19.99k
--27256 bottom half, left to right=1-14 , ECU plugs to left
test lead sequence: red - blk
1-2 = 21.08m
2 cont w/ OKI 13
2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11, 11-12 = ol **11-12
= 20k
12-13 = 19.9k
13-14 = 10.3k
14 cont w/tracing around

**after adding c51, c52, r54, and j1 jumpered

NO VALUES CHANGED FOR 74hc373 when socketed and **
--74hc373 top half, left to right=1-14, ECU plugs to left
test lead sequence: red - blk
1-2, 2-3 = ol
1 cont w/RM3 1
3-4 = 19.9k
4 cont w/ IC9 (74hc541) top 5
4-5, 5-6, 6-7 = ol
7 cont w/RM3 9 and then OKI 8
7-8 = 19.9k
8 cont w/RM3 8 and then OKI 7
8-9, 9-10 = ol
9 cont w/ IC9 ? (can't see under IC9)
--74hc373 bottom half, ECU plugs to left
test lead sequence: red - blk
1-2, 2-3 = ol
1 cont w/ tracing around it
3 cont w/RM3 2
3-4 = 20k
4 cont w/RM3 3
4-5, 5-6, 6-7, = ol
7 cont w/RM3 4 and IC9 top 8
7-8 - 19.9k
8 cont w/ RM3 5 and IC9 bottom 10 = 10.3k
8-9, 9-10 = ol
10 cont w/tracing around

--other observations from top side of ECU

J1 1 cont/ OKI 27
J1 2 cont/ tracing around it (incl OKI 32, R54 2 ...)

c52 2 cont/ tracing around it (incl OKI 32, R54 2 ..)
c51 2 cont/ tracing around it (incl C30 2, CN2 3...)


BOTTOM ECU OBSERVATIONS ECU PLUGS to LEFT
--27256 ECU top, bottom half, left to right =1-14
1 to RP3, RP7, RP17, RP5, RP13, CN2 3,...
11 to IC9 top, top 10, then to 74hc373 top, bot 3
12 to IC9 top, top 9, then to 74hc373 top, bot 4
13 to 74hc373 top, bot 7
14 cont w/tracing around it
--27256 ECU top, top half
1 to RM3 top, top 1
4 to OKI 9
5 to OKI 10
6 to OKI 12
8 to OKI 11
10 to RM3 9

74hc373 top, bottom half, left-right = 1-14
1 cont w/tracing around it
2 through board to 27256 top, bot 10
3 to IC9 top, top 10
4 to IC9 top, top 9
5 through board to 27256 top, bot 9
6 through board to 27256 top, bot 8
7 to 27256 top, bot 13
9 through board to 27256 top, bot 7
74hc373 top, top half, left-right=1-14
1 to c51, r50, etc, ... also through and through to 27256 top,top 1
2 through to 27256 top, bot 6
3 through to IC9 top, top 6
5 through to 27256 top, bot 5
6 throught to 27256 top, bot 3
7 through to IC9 top, top 3
8 through to IC9 top, top 4

same here, but I have traced the wires soo many times now I just know where to look, every once in a while I am a pin off =P
