Q: I get a lot of 'ClassLoader'-exceptions when I try to run Tunetoy

A: Upgrade to Java 1.5 (or 5.0 as the Sun marketing department likes to call it).
Most platforms: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Apple (Mac OS X): http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/java2se50release1.html

For other platforms, please contact your system vendor.

Q: How do I compile Tunetoy on a platform other than Windows (32-bit)

A: Click on the net.sf.tunetoy.product file in the Package Explorer, and go to the Configuration tab. Select the 'org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86' plugin, and click 'Remove'. Click 'Add Required Plug-ins' and it should include the appropiate Mac OS X (or whatever platform) plug-in. After that, you might need to Clean the project (Project -->
Clean...).

Q: I get tons of compilation error

A: Select the net.sf.tunetoy project in the 'Package Explorer'. Hit alt-enter or right-click and select properties. Go to the 'Java Compiler' node. Enable 'Enable project specific settings', and then set the 'Compiler compliance level' to 5.0.

Did my 'stupid' emails force you to write this?

(and no matter what you say, java is slow as balls, especially on a mac...)

Luti,

In some circumstances there seem to be Java speed problems on a Mac, according to Apple, they should have been fixed in the latest build of OSX!

Apple wrote:
We believe that this issue has been resolved in Mac OS X v10.4.3 "Tiger" Build 8F8, which was made
available on Apple's Developer Connection site yesterday (http://connect.apple.com/).

If you have some spare time, can you please check if this solves it for you? I'm not experiencing any speed problems on my own mac.

Thanks,
Robin

if you have a mac and osx, then you should download the gcj compiler. then you can compile the program source into binary for your machine and not have to use the jvm.. or you can keep whining about how java is "slow" and do nothing about it.

Or you can learn to read whats going on with this site and know that I stopped whining and wrote my own native OSX rom editor AND datalogger.

http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewtopic.php?t=6951 it is currently under development but getting better and better with every release.

eh, sorry for the earlier post.. i was kinda pissed off about the java comment.. im a cs major at a university that teaches mostly in java, and all i hear around me is people bitching about the university curriculum not being in c++, but people dont seem to realize the advantages of java. granted it isnt the perfect language, but there is no perfect language. i tend to get kinda irritated about java comments.. and the fact that no one knows about gcj. anyway.. no hard feelings. i checked out your editor and it looks really good. i dont have a mac currently so i cant try it out. good luck, and if you need any java programming done, let me know.
