Hey Guys,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the ECUs on Honda Generators? I'm looking into the possibility of logging data from the ECU.
The
Honda EU7000is Generator has a PGM-FI ECU.
Honda calls it the "GCU" General Control Unit on a Generator. It uses some form of Honda PGM-FI for electronic fuel injection.
It has a "DLC" Data Link Connector which looks a lot like what I've read is found on Honda Motorcycles.
Honda Motorcycles seem to use ODB with a "K" line.
The service manual describes the pinout for this connector as RX/TX rather than "K" leading me to believe it might be just straight uart serial.
I would love to be able to build/program a device to log data out of the ECU. With the goal of being able to record information like
- Engine Speed
- Fuel Consumption
- Electrical Load
- Runtime Estimations
- Engine Hours
I connected a scope up to the RX/TX pins on the connector. There was no communication on the port with nothing connected. They idle low. When the generator power switch is turned on there's a short 10ms 5v high pulse on the TX line. This leads me to believe it is 5v logic. I tried sending random data to the RX line to see if I could get any kind of reply. I wasn't able to get anywhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the signalling required is to comunicate?
Thanks!
