I'm also using the TOP853 with a SST 27SF256 EEPROM.
Works awesome ! No problems. But you have to have an old
laptop or computer with Windows XP. Doesn't work on Vista,
7 and 8 :(

Anybody else having issues with a SST27SF512 in Top853?

Changed the offset to 08000 and I get a verify error when I try and verify the file...

Haven't been on PGMFI forum in a minute!

I was looking to upgrade my ecu chipping hardware to something more current thats USB based and Win7 friendly (currently using my original Needhams EMP-10 via serial port + DOS via WinXP LOL!...hey it still works!)

I came across the mentioned Top brand burner.
I was curious if anyone has had successful burns with these Atmel chips:
AT27C256R (one time program/OTP)
AT29C256 (reflashable/MTP)

Also it looks like they've updated their software to be win7/8/10 compatible if I'm not mistaken. Any insight on their updates software?

thanks!

I had on before and tried to make it work on Win7, but after no success I bought a Moates Burn2. Small and works well.

Yea the Burn2 is on my scope of possible purchases, I just wish it supported ATMEL 27C256R burning as I use this eprom often.

Another programmer of interest is this one:
