I bought a car that was already tuned with a hondata s200. I want to be able to tune it myself, without taking it to a shop and having to pay someone. I bought the $50 unlock code for data logging recently. I was unsure if I wanted to upgrade to the s300 as much as my local performance shops and hondata themselves wanted me to. After some research, I've decided to buy the gear to tune the hondata and eventually convert to eCtune or Crome Pro once I've got more experience with everything.

Here's what I've found so far:

Each company wants about $100-$200 for the ROM editor;
hondata-$200, crome-pro-$150, eCtune-$200

Most companies work with a Moates Ostrich, $180
Anything using a .bin works with Moates Burn1, $90

I have a hondata, and it didn't have datalogging unlocked, so that was an extra $50 that I had to spend.
J12 inside my ECU is cut, because it was sent to hondata for modification. I haven't opened it up yet to verify.
The hondata map won't move to Crome, but I want to eventually transition it. I'll need to make a new base map for my setup.

So, when moving from s200 to crome, can I just cut the s200 interface box wires and hook em up to this:

?

If you concerned about the price, you really don't NEED the emulators, it simply makes tuning much much easier.

the hondata maps are hondatas own. They can not be pulled into Crome or Uberdata.

Hondata & Crome = J12 removed.
Uberdata = J12 present

The S200 is a good setup, very comparable to Crome with a slight leg up on the S200 side. If you go with the Crome Gold option, that's available to Crome Pro users, Gold will easily surpass the S200 setup.

In my opinion, eCtune is a step up from Crome Gold. And the support for it rivals pretty much anything out there.
(note: both eCtune and Crome Gold require an emulator/ostrich)

What are the costs associated with Crome Gold versus eC tune?

I use Crome Pro as of right now I believe it is the least expensive stable solution.

The ECU's are modified a little differently.

Check out Xenocron's tuning or Starter packages.

http://www.xenocron.com/catalog/products.php

I'd go with a Crome Pro, Datalogging, Emulator, Burner, Innovate Wideband Package.

Just my $0.02
