Do lots of reading. There's a reason it costs money - it takes significant time and effort to learn how to tune. You might read the thread in my sig, go through the wiki a few times, and going through the newbie forum and reading anything with a relatively high number of views and/or posts would help. Have fun and good luck.

** Hardware Needed **

1)_Wideband -- ( Don't be cheap Innovate Motorsports makes the most accurate wideband systems on the market, Using the least expensive Bosch o2 sensor to replace. ) http://innovatemotorsports.com/products.php
Wideband shootout -- http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2007 ... /index.php

2)_A Chipped OBD1 ECU -- ( You may want to purchase your 1st ECU from a Professional -- Less troubleshooting headaches )

3)_Datalogging -- I use a Hulog

4)_Emulator used for Real Time Programing -- I use a ROMulator but an Ostrich works just fine.

5)_Chip Burner -- Burn1 and Spare blank chips

You need a ROM Burner and a ROM Emulator. The Burner is ~$100 and the Emulator is ~$200. Or, you could try building this:

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3005&hilit=easyrtp

... heh. Looks quite scary, but it does its deed via a serial port, so the ECU can be closed. If I had a spare 'tuning' ECU, this is the mod for me.
