hey,

I have been thinking about brushing up on some programming, but I'm not sure what language would be a good start (c#, vb,... ?). I've taken a class in C++, but I think it was a pretty basic introductory class. That's pretty much my extent of any real programming. I was thinking it would be a good idea to pick up something to put on my resume, but also something that might have interesting applications to the PGMFI board.

Any suggestions about a good language to learn? Also, are they any good books on the language?

Thanks!

With Visual Studios 2008 you can't go wrong..

both C and VB (multiple versions of C) you can download and learn for free (Express editions)
both are powerful and can do most anything you want to do. Both have a learning curve even if you knew how to program in VB6 or older versions of C as many functions got updated or changed and the old syntax changed.

Hi Dear.

There are lots languages in the current market like Java, .net,C++,C,Pascal etc.
You have to start with C bacause it is probably fundamental language.

Both of these languages are nice and you are saying that you are learning a C++, so I am telling that C++ and C have a same concept but a little bit different so prepare C by own but go a VB for practice in graphical programming language and it will put your resume in top.

Python and Lisp are the good programming languages because if you can understand this, you can understand anything
