Post subject: P30 burnt resistor >_<
PostPosted: Tue Feb 07, 2006 8:50 am
My P30 ecu (EURO) went on the bbq :? Don't know what happened, but it seems like only one resistor is fried... I'm trying to fix it, but I can't see how the resistor looked like, since it's completely black/brown/ugly/burnt *grmbl* :x

I like to know what resistor I have to use. Maybe somebody knows the exact resistancy or the resistors' colorcode... the number next to it says: R77

Thanks in advance!

You will do much better here if you READ before posting...
Especially the sticky threads in the forums you choose to post in.
THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO ASK QUESTIONS is pretty self explanatory - please ask your questions in the assistance forums! There is so much information here that we try to follow some simple guidelines to avoid clutter and making answers even harder to find.

it's 5.6 ohms,

but resistors only burn themselves in pakistan, in ecu's they are burned by other things

you need to follow the connections and see where it goes or the replacement will go the same way.

Im not a Muslim or a Pakistani but I think that was extremly offensive. It's a real shame a few bad people can ruin the image of an entire race.

it was a joke, and anyway it's not the muslims that keep throwing petrol on themselves.
i think it's the hindu's or seiks.

not to worry, they wont be doing it when oil costs $500 a barrel. :)

/\ - that's a joke too, before it's miss-interpreted.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section... I was doubting where to put it, so I decided to iniminimanimo... doesn't seem to work that well :D

Already got a reaction on other forum, they said 5,6 ohm as well... now I got a few 10 ohm resistors laying around here... do you guys think it makes a big difference if I would use one of those 10 ohm resistors instead of a 5,6 ohm ? Since 5,6 ohm is almost no resistance, 10 ohm is not much more :P But on the other hand, 10 ohm is almost 2 times more than 5,6 ohm :?

And about the cause of this little accident  I accidently switched the wires of pinout B12 (CIDQ W) and C14 (PO2 W)

I hope nothing else is damaged...

that resistor is intended to act as a fuse, the lower the resistance the higher the permitted current.

so it's best to put the correct one in, if you put in a 10ohm then it will allow less current and run hotter.

Yes I understand... will buy one today and see if the ecu still works

Tried the ecu... i'm getting engine check light now, but fuelpump doesnt do anything :(

Tomorrow I get another p30 (stock) to try...

folow the tracks from the resistor, you probably just smoked a transistor.

on a p11 i have here it goes to a 2sc3225.

the only other thing it goes to is HIC2 ceramic circuit (4SPW-C).

Closest transistor is a C3225 2G (is that correct?)

How else do I recognize a smoked transistor? I've measured (resistance) the closest ones in it's neighbor and they all seem fine :?

Btw, the resistor below it didn't break (these 2 are connected to each other)... that's a 1,6 kOhm, shouldn't that one explode earlier than a 5,6 ohm ?

Got hand on another P30 (stock), plugged it in and car fired up immediately! I'm happy that the car is running again, but I'm still pissed on the broken ECU. I will get it repaired soon... hopefully
