I changed my p28 for a pr3-j01 obd1 ecu with knock board. I installed the one wire for the knock and pluged it in D3. The knock sensor is from a 99 EDM VTi B16A2. Car starts no check engine. When i hit Vtec the check comes on it is for knock sensor. Any ideas? Vtec continues to wrk with check on.

did you wire in a shielded wire and tie the shield in with one of the sensor grounds? or just run a normal wire to the sensor? if its not a shielded wire---thats your problem---it HAS to be shielded and the shield has to be tied in to a sensor ground.

Why? All EDM VTi Civic run a plain wire. No shields. Anyway problem is fixed now knock sensor was not torqued fully and it didn't have a good ground on the engine block.

really, usdm HAS to have a shielded wire to absorb and shunt the emi and rfi away from the sensor input
