Hi, I'm going to take a quick second and introduce myself.

I go by the handle PHiZ for about 8 years now. Since the BBS days. I am very comfortable with desktop software and hardware. I have been running freeBSD for about one year. Before that I had some experience administering IRIX machines, which I still do.

I am currently a Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Photonics triple major at the local community college.

I have exposure to, and I can program in the following languages, but I am not a hardcore coder, I have always been more of a sysadmin, then a developer. C++, VB, x86 assembly.

Spring semester, my EE curriculum has me in a microprocessors class where we learn with the motorola 68k (66k?) family, isn't that convenient, eh guys! Since I already know x86 ASM, I think learning this will be trivial

Trivial, because I think this summer I want to help in the development of the available freeware tools.

Ecucontrol appears to be in good shape. I'd like to see support for the P28 added to g-dyne. I believe all the reverse engineering has been done, finding where all the nice little offsets that values live at? yes/no?

I will lend my services, where they are needed. So tell me what I should be focusing on guys?

I will close with a list of what hardware I am working with.

99civicEX D16Y8
OBD1 P28 with ZIF and appropriate harness
laptop, various PCs Win2k and FBSD
My turbo kit shipped today from california
-hond@t@ stage 2b, I will be paying the $175 to upgrade this to s200b
-I will be purchasing: datalogging, and romeditor

I will be purchasing (probably xtronics) romulator and pocket-programmer

I plan on purchasing or building a wideband 02

Soldering iron [please don't make me use this =)]
Just bought 100 UV leds for another project, probably going to make an eprom eraser, I'll ship some at cost if anyone wants to do this project also.

Ordered a serial cable from a nokia 5100/6100 off of ebay today, per a post in "general" this will be my ecucontrol interface.

I look forward to working with you guys. Hopefully I can lend some fresh energy to all of our endeavors.

I'm also an officer of NYC2600, if any of you are familiar with that scene.

Welcome !

We need help DASMing and understanding the ROM.

For instance in OBD0 (pm6 family) we still dont know where the O2 memory location is. Thus, in Ecucontrol, I cant program the routine that tells the AF ratio.

If you could zip me out some DASMed/ COMMENTED ROMS, that would be a great place for me to start picking up not just the language, but the structure of the ECU. No point in me starting MY commenting from the very beginning, true?

I think the DASMing is definitly a worthwile nay, neccesary effort. But a quick workaround to discovering the 02 sensor location in memory, might be to do protocol analysis on a managment system that already reads the 02 values, and that's all I'll discuss of that here.

I'd like to offer my groups IRC server up, to help the collaboration effort. It's irc.nyc2600.org, we need only decide on a channel name.

'could be a good start

Thanks WaRFieLD, that is EXACTLY the starting point I was looking for. As for finding the location of the 02 sensor, has anyone thought to look at a related CEL, and trace backwards.

I.e. CEL for "bad 02 sensor", and backtrace it to where it was tested that the 02 sensor output was out of range. I'm not familiar with how the CELs are setup, I'd guess it is a lookup table somewhere, but must be triggered by a test condition somewhere,yes/no, sorry if this has been covered. Also, point me towards a better thread for this issue.
